I’ve worked with Stephen on a number of occasions to realise and fabricate my own projects for exhibition and for specifically commissioned artworks.

In 2016 I was awarded The Spinningfields Art Commission and I worked with Stephen to makes a series of wild plants cast in bronze which once installed would appear to grow from the fabric of corporately owned buildings in Spinningfields Manchester. The results were incredibly detailed and exactly what I wanted for the commission. Many of the pieces were subsequently sold to private collectors while one of the pieces has been acquired for the contemporary art collection at Manchester Art Gallery.

Another successful project I worked on with Stephen was for a solo exhibition – Turquoise Bag in a Tree, a bronze cast of a windblown plastic carrier bag which appeared to be snagged in a tree. This was a difficult project but again the results were perfect. Turquoise Bag in a Tree was re commissioned for a major group exhibition at Compton Verney Gallery in Warwickshire in 2016. It is now in a private collection.

Bronzecast is a really friendly, reliable foundry to work with.Stephen understands what is needed with each piece. His mould making, patina, fixings and attention to detail are consistently of the highest quality, and he has never missed a deadline.wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Bronzecast to other sculptors.

Working with Bronzecast over the past few years, has been an exciting experience. Stephen encourages the artist’s input, at every stage. This allows the artist to learn about the art of casting; giving the artist greater understanding of where the casting process can take their work.

The moulding, casting and finishing, becomes a collaborative process and being a talented sculptor himself, Stephen is able to make astute observations and recommendations throughout. When there are deadlines to meet, Bronzecast will work hard to facilitate meeting them; especially the unrealistic ones. Personally, I have a great deal to thank him for, in the development of my knowledge and ultimately, my work.

I have worked with Bronzecast for several years now for both moulding and casting my sculptures. I have always found them very professional and reliable. Stephen himself is a very accomplished artist and approaches this work with a maker’s interest and an artist’s eye. He has always met his deadlines and honoured his quotations. I have no hesitation in recommending him.

Finding Bronzecast online was a Godsend for me when another Foundry became too busy to fulfil my relatively modest order in time, and what a gem I found.Stephen Charnock is a delightto work with; ever patient, interested, engaged, never pushy but such a creative-collaborator, bringing a gifted and honest artistic eye to the process along with his immense and thorough technical capabilities.

With both creation and installation Stephen really gives the extra mile, not just fulfilling the contract he makes with the artist but immersed in both the process and joy of the outcome.I thoroughly recommend Bronzecast and just hope that by doing so there will still be availability in the foundry timetable for my next projects!

I have had the pleasure of working with Stephen on several occasions, most recently though the support of an A-N Professional Development Bursary. He is genuinely interested and enthusiastic to work with and in supporting artists with varying practices. His experience and understanding of bronze casting and mould making processes and has enabled me to experiment with new materials and push the boundaries of my sculptural practice.
